Drag out a form field where a reader of the document should be able to type.

A field is a proposal, not a mark

What this tool drags out is not a mark. It is a proposal: a field drawn where one is wanted, not yet written into the page.

That command is unfinished and may not be in your Form menu. This tool draws the same kind of proposal by hand, so a field you drag out here is the same kind of thing detection would have found.

A field the detector missed and a field it found are the same object from the moment they exist. Without this tool you could only edit what detection offered, and a page detection reads as blank could never become a form.

Kept out of the mark lists

A proposal is not a mark, so it stays out of every mark list. It is not something you annotate; it marks a place for someone else to fill in.

Position on the strip

This tool is eleventh on the strip. It has no key of its own: the digits stop at nine, and 0 arms the region tool instead.
